Saskatchewan RCMP is alerting the public to reports of text scams where individuals falsely identify themselves as the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Bureau. The text message states that the person contacted has been captured speeding in a designated school zone. It says the person must click a link in order for them to avoid attending court.

The Saskatchewan RCMP reminds the public to be vigilant when receiving unsolicited text messages or phone calls. Saskatchewan RCMP does not send information about traffic-related tickets via text message.

We encourage the public to take the following steps if they receive text messages from a scammer:

  • Don’t text the scammer back.

  • Block their phone number immediately.

  • Don’t send them any money or gift cards.

  • Keep records of the texts.
