Partners Family Services announced a funding boost of $454,000 over three years from the Government of Canada which will allow for expansion of two major services.

According to a press release issued on October 22, Partners Family Services, as a result of the funding, will continue the Children Exposed to Violence therapeutic group programming as well as add an additional child and youth clinical counsellor at Partners Family Services.

Executive Director for Partners Family Services, Hayley Kennedy states, “Partners Family Services thanks Justice Canada for recognizing the value of our Children Exposed to Violence program and providing additional financial support for the expansion of the program. We are grateful for the opportunity to add an additional counsellor to our team so that we may ensure timely access to services for those who need it. As an organization, we understand that the impact of domestic violence on children is deep and complex. This additional funding will ensure that we are able to continue to meet the needs of children and youth in our communities.”

Partners Family Services has also expanded the Walk-In Counselling Clinics to include three additional rural communities. Walk-in counselling is a partnership between Family Service Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority that provides a solution-focused single session model of counselling available to anyone to drop in without an appointment. Walk-in counselling is currently available in Humboldt two days per week, Wynyard one day per week, and Wadena one day per week. The organization is also adding walk-in counselling in the communities of Cudworth and Wakaw on alternating weeks, to ensure widespread access in Humboldt and Area.

Details regarding Children Exposed to Violence programming and counselling, Walk-In Counselling Clinics and all other programs are available on the Partners Family Services website at www.partnersfamilyservices.ca. There is no fee for any program or service.
