A quick ticket pick netted Don Schlachter a shiny new Can-Am Renegade all-terrain vehicle courtesy of Humboldt Minor Hockey and South 20 Dodge. Schlachter was the grand prize winner in Humboldt Minor Hockey's fundraising lottery. Schlachter picked up the keys on Wednesday, Mar. 26.

The streamlined off-road quad is ready for all the mud that Don Schlachter can throw at it, but he's got other plans. "I got grandkids," he laughs, "They're all speaking for it so I don't quite know what's going to happen now."

Brenda Behiel with the Humboldt Minor Hockey Board was on hand to make the presentation. She explains that the lottery was a new initiative for the club, "Humboldt Minor Hockey this year decided to try a fundraiser. We're trying to give back to the association so we can do training for our coaches, help pay for ice time and our fees. Some local businesses like South 20 and the Humboldt Co-op sold tickets for us. This money is going directly back to our organization."

On behalf of Humboldt Minor Hockey, Behiel thanked everyone who had a hand in supporting the project.

South 20's Todd Newell was pleased to share sponsorship and provide the vehicle. Newell confirmed, "The Humboldt Minor Hockey Association is very important in the community."

All Don Schlachter has to do is come up with a sharing schedule for his new ATV when the grandkids come to visit.
