As Canada turns 149 on Friday, the City of Humboldt has a jam packed lineup full of entertainment and kids activities.

There are some new additions for this year as well, says Events Manager Mike Ulriksen.

"We get to start off the day with Chris Chittick, the storm chaser. You might know him from the Tornado Hunters Discovery Channel TV show," he said. "He's going to do a presentation and have his truck there and he is going to do some demonstrations for the kids. That should be a great way to start the day."

Following Chittick will be Matt Bantle, who performs a stunning show all by himself, as a one-man band. The afternoon will also see performances from Bernadette Reifferscheid, Lacey Holowaty, Ray Whitton and Greg Torwalt.

"Once we get into the evening where we go band after band, we're pretty excited with the lineup this year," Ulriksen said, on the line-up that begins at 5:00pm. "We have the Mix Culture Band, and then we go Chase Walker Band, Round House, and then Gravel Hound is going to perform once we get closer to fireworks."

Along with the entertainment lineup, Ulriksen says they have activities to keep the kids busy throughout the day.

"Airbrush tattoos, we have Randy's Caricatures coming back, he's been a huge hit the last couple years. We're going to have face painters. We are also trying something new with a petting zoo," he explained. "The lifeguards at the Aquatic Centre are going to come out and be fake lifeguards at the spray park, but also have some fun with the kids, play some games, water balloons, things like that."

There will also be a Canadian flag for anyone to sign. That flag will be sent to Brianne Theisen-Eaton, as she prepares for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio this August.

Starting off the day at 8:00am will be a pancake breakfast hosted by the Water Tower Association. A barbecue with the Humboldt Cadets begins at 11:30am and runs until 7:30pm, with a concession beginning at 11 and concluding prior to fireworks.
