A large gathering at any community meeting shows healthy engagement. At the Muenster Co-op's Annual General Meeting, held on April 25 at the Muenster Seniors Centre, a crowd of around fifty members demonstrated a lively and robust interest in the village business.

The Muenster Co-op operates a food store in Muenster and fuel keylock services in Muenster and St. Gregor. Like many small businesses, retaining market share is a challenge, and this remains the case with the food store. While total sales for the year were up slightly from the previous year, the Co-op Board of Directors, management, and staff recognize the need for continued improvements.

To that end, Muenster Co-op is meeting the challenge of marketing and advertising by embracing social media. In addition to traditional paper flyers, the Muenster Co-op has begun to broadcast its food store promotions on FaceBook and with the use of the Co-op App. Muenster Co-op Manager Wendy Benz explains, "The Co-op app has all the weekly flyers along with coupons, and it's available for download on any smartphone."

In addition to new modes of publicizing goods and services, the fuel side is embarking on an expansion because of demand. Board President Glenn Korte outlined that fuel sales have done very well. In fact, the price of crude oil combined with Federated Co-op's refinery capacity led to record earnings for Federated Co-op. Those profits led to a healthy patronage allocation to the Muenster Co-op which supported their yearly earnings. Locally, demand for keylock service means a new bank of lock keys will be installed. Korte states, "We are in the process of adding another bank of fifty keys. A lot of them have already been spoken for."

Korte explains that while the keylock technology is a bit "old school", it provides an efficient and cost-effective means for members to access fuel in the community.

Two Directors with expired terms, Glenn Sylvestre and Monica Kiefer, were returned to the Board by acclamation. The Muenster Co-op boasts a membership of 628.
