The Town of Lanigan is encouraging everybody to 'Go Out and Play' as part of its campaign to be number one and to secure a new water park. The annual challenge pits communities against each other in the hopes that youth and adults will become more active.

The initiative is sponsored by Saskatchewan Blue Cross and In Motion. Communities register themselves for the challenge and then participate and register their activity minutes in an online line. The software tracks the accumulated times for each community and the winners are announced on March 15.

Loretta Uchacz with the Town of Lanigan reports that the community is doing well. She notes, "Right now we're about 16th out of 45 communities that are participating in the 'Go Out and Play' challenge."

Uchacz says that a first-place finish will net the community a $10,000 prize; second place is $5000. "Either one would be good", she says.

The challenge goes from March 1 - 10, 2019. Other regional communities participating in the challenge are Wynyard, Kelvington, and Wadena.
