Music students, teachers, parents, and adjudicators celebrated standout performances Monday evening.

The Humboldt Music Festival concluded with a performance night dedicated to showcasing the best and most talented young musicians in the area.

After three weeks of competition, vocal, band, and piano adjudicators submit their recommendations for who they think should receive awards and perform at the showcase.

"That showcase is the best of the festival. It's always a real treat to hear all of our young people perform the things they worked so hard on", explains board president, Patti Durand.

Monday night showcased the talents of 52 youngsters of all different ages, levels, and styles.

Durand notes a particularly memorable performance by siblings Taryn and Ian Stock, who performed a piano duet.  "It was just a jaw dropper! it was so good!", says Durand of the winners of best duet in piano.

Durand explains that many of the music students in the Humboldt area are learning more than one discipline or instrument; a testament to both the dedicated efforts of the teachers and the students.

This type of musical showcase wouldn't be possible without sponsors like the Good Neighbour Store and RBC Royal Bank, says Durand.

"Thank you (to the sponsors) for choosing to invest in our community the way they do".
