Donald Kienlen
November 15, 1933 – October 15, 2018

Donald Kienlen of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, October 15, 2018. He was 84 years of age. Donald was born in Humboldt on November 15, 1933, to Raymond and Mary (nee Smith) Kienlen, and was raised on the family farm in the Burr district. He attended Banner School where he was taught by two of his aunts, Elsie and Agnes Kienlen, through Grade 8. Donald farmed with his dad and brothers until eventually taking over the family farm. He was particularly skilled in the training and handling of horses and took great pride in his purebred Hereford cattle. When on the farm, Donald always had a loyal dog by his side. His other interests included hunting, nature photography and the preservation of wildlife habitat. Donald spent the last nine years in Watson where he was known as the resident photographer. His new digital camera was always charged up and ready to go. Donald is remembered by his siblings: Lillian Bunz, Phyllis Lanigan, and Robert (Ruth) Kienlen; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mary (nee Smith) Kienlen; brother, Art (Barb) Kienlen; sister, Rose (Alfred) Siegel; and by brothers-in-law, Tom Lanigan and Norbert Bunz. The Graveside Service was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, with Father Peter Olisa presiding. The scripture reader was Dennis Siegel, intentions were led by Wendy Siegel. Memorial donations may be directed to either Quill Plains Centennial Lodge and Health Centre or Diabetes Canada.
