Terry Frank Kuntz
August 5, 1953 – March 8, 2024

Terry Kuntz, born in Regina, SK, on August 5, 1953, departed suddenly from this world on March 8th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and cherished memories. Terry dedicated many years of his life to education, starting his teaching career in 1971 and retiring in June 2011. Passionate about teaching, he held his many students and colleagues close to his heart after retiring from 37 years in education. Terry was considered by many as a ‘real teacher’ who took enormous pride in voiding the fluff and instilling the educational foundations necessary for every student he taught. He was a man who naturally demanded great respect from his students, and in return, his students learnt and excelled in their academic endeavours. On August 10, 1996, he joined hands in marriage with Vicky Kowalchuk at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Humboldt. Together, they shared a journey filled with love and companionship. Their love was evident in every part of their lives together and it shone through to everyone who knew how much they loved each other - soulmates forever and now together again, in peace and eternal happiness. Their marriage also meant that Terry gained two sons, Curt and Keith. Terry stepped into being a father immediately and built a relationship that any son could want with their dad. As the boys grew into adulthood, he also gained two daughters-in-law, and eventually three grandsons. His grandsons were one of his biggest joys. Grandpa was their hero, an amazing role model and their ray of light. He will be eternally loved and missed by his three grandkids. Beyond his dedication to teaching, Terry was an ardent Boston Bruins and Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders fan, infusing his life with the excitement of hockey and football. His passion extended to leisurely pursuits, such as completing intricate 1000-piece puzzles and delving into the world of literature, with a special affinity for hockey-related books and a comprehensive collection of Stephen King's works. Terry’s interests were also reflected in his collections, from the array of John Deere toys, sports memorabilia, and his eclectic assortment of bottles that mirrored his diverse tastes and travels throughout his life. With loved ones and friends, Terry was a man of quiet wisdom. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to education but also for the joy he found in simple pleasures, the bonds he forged in marriage, and the shared enthusiasm that added vibrancy to his life. Terry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicky Kuntz, who passed away on January 20, 2022. He also mourned the loss of his father, Greg Kuntz; his mother, Eleanore Kuntz; brother, Neil Kuntz; mother-in-law Susie Gryba; father-in-law Bill Gryba; and brother-in-Law Mike Gryba. Terry is survived by his son Curt Kowalchuk, wife Shawna, and son Brady; son Keith Kuntz, wife Kim Huls, and sons Cohen and Jace.
