Darcy Haugan
September 27, 1975 – April 6, 2018

Darcy Haugan passed away on April 6, 2018 as a result of the tragic Humboldt Bronco Bus accident. He was 42 years of age. Darcy was born in Peace River, AB to Leroy and Shirley Haugan, little brother to Debbie. His love for hockey started as a young boy. He played all over the country and around the world.  He met the love of his life Christina (George) in Caronport, SK (Briercrest Bible College) in 1998.  They married three years later in Rosetown, SK on August 4, 2001 and started his coaching career in Estevan, SK. After two years, he got the opportunity to go back to Peace River and be the Head coach and GM of the Junior B North Peace Navigators. They settled down in Peace River and he continued his love of hockey, coaching and mentoring young men.  In 2005, Darcy and Christina welcomed their first son Carson and three years later another handsome boy, Jackson in 2008.  Darcy was extremely fortunate to work along side his mom and dad at the local Kal Tire in Peace River as well as coaching the Junior B hockey team.  Over the years in Peace River, he led the team to several championships and Provincial Banners, but don’t be fooled – behind Darcy’s championships stood an amazing wife that fed those boys countless meals, washed jerseys, painted and cleaned up dressing rooms and spent countless hours sharpening skates and getting games organized.  Along with thousands of fans stood two outstanding fans, Darcy’s two boys Carson and Jackson.  They weren’t only fans of hockey, Darcy was their hero and they spent most of their lives watching from the stands, jumping on the player or fan buses and hanging out with their dad in his office or with him on the ice.  Darcy poured his heart and soul into Junior B hockey and after 12 years in Peace River he got a phone call to move up to Junior A and relocate to Humboldt, SK.  Aside from hockey, Darcy loved fishing.  He would start most summer mornings before hockey camps and chaos by enjoying the peaceful quiet of Humboldt Lake, usually with close friends and family.  It took him no time at all to settle and really become a huge part of the small town Humboldt community.  He was doing amazing things with the Broncos and had a very clear vision to bring them to a level they haven’t hit for many years, already accomplishing this by surpassing Round 1 in the SJHL playoffs this year.  Darcy had a love for Jesus Christ on and off the ice.  He spent his life sharing the word in all the little things he did.  He is and will always be a very selfless man and only wanted the best for everyone around him and involved in his life and hockey.  We have great comfort in knowing that Darcy has gone home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ and that gives us all the comfort to carry on one breathe at a time.  Darcy is survived by his wife Christina, sons Carson and Jackson, parents Shirley and Leroy Haugan, sister Debbie (Andrew) Carpenter, mother-in-law Dee George and numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, sister-and-brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Darcy was predeceased by his grandparents and father-in-law. The Funeral Service for Darcy was held at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Sean Brandow, the Bronco Team Chaplain.  Memorial donations can be directed to Partners Family Services, Box 2741 Humboldt, SK. S0K 2A0.  Interment followed on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Fosston Elim Cemetery, Fosston, SK.
