The votes are being tallied and the race is on for this year’s CAA Worst Roads campaign. Notwithstanding Highway 5 east of Humboldt and the annual breakup of the winter surface during construction, the Humboldt area hasn’t fared too badly when it comes to the top ten poorest driving surfaces. However, not too far away are the vote getters.

Head east down Highway 5 to Buchanan and you’ll see the 7th ranked worst road as it stands today. Marked as “poor road maintenance” on the ballot, the stretch has raised the ire of local drivers.

Heading up Highway 9 from Preeceville to Hudson Bay is a chore with potholes. It comes in at number 9. Old Highway 35 has seen better days according to its number 10 ranking. The stretch near White Fox is rife with potholes, say voters.

The top 10 to date stands as follows”:

  1. Saskatchewan 44, Eston, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  2. Highway 13, Redvers, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  3. Butte Street, Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  4. Saskatchewan 9, Whitewood, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  5. Saskatchewan 30, Eston, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  6. Coteau Street West, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  7. Saskatchewan 5, Buchanan, Saskatchewan - Poor road maintenance
  8. Saskatchewan 123, Petaigan / Ravendale / Pemmican Portage, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  9. Highway 9, Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan - Potholes
  10. Old Highway 35, White Fox, Saskatchewan - Potholes
