St. Dominic School is having their spirit week this week.

Today the school is having a backward day where members of the Grade 3 class wore their shirts, pants, bunnyhugs and anything they could find backwards.

Tomorrow is Chargers Day where kids will wear Red, White and Black the colours of the St. Dominic School Chargers.

On Wednesday, everyone in the School will wear Patterns, Plaid and Polkadots. On Thursday students can grab a Buddy and read a Book day where students will grab a buddy and sit down and read to them and on Friday the school will have a special Pizza Party Hot Lunch for all the staff and students.

Even St. Dominic principal Chad Knaus got into the fun wearing his clothes backwards to school today. I think School Spirit Week is a very good idea for many schools as it gives students a chance to show their colorful personalities and they can engage in many fun activities. And elementary schools aren't the only ones that do spirit weeks as down at Humboldt Collegiate we also have Spirit Week.

I'm a student at Humboldt Collegiate and this week our School Action Squad had a spirit week at the end of September to raise money for the victims of the Hurricanes in Houston, Florida and the Carribean. Some of the activities we had were students could pay to wear their hats, and we even had a pancake breakfast. My favorite activity for spirit week is Jersey Day as being a sports fan I own quite a few jerseys and when we have Jersey Day I always like to wear my Troy Tulowitzki Blue Jays jersey. School Spirit weeks are good for schools as it is a way to show a sense of pride for your school as you want to make students feel like they "fit in" and what better way to make them "fit in" then to have a School Spirit Week where they can engage in fun activities with the rest of the school.
