Laura Katherine (nee Gerwing) Berscheid
June 13, 1918 – July 29, 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Laura Berscheid of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, (and formerly of Lake Lenore, SK), announces her peaceful passing at her residence, at the age of 104.

Laura was the 7th of 16 children of John and Amelia (nee Schulte) Gerwing, and lived most of her life in the Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan area. In 1943, she married William (Bill) Berscheid (1916 – 1967). Laura and Bill enjoyed life on their farm, where they raised 12 children. Following Bill’s death in 1967, Laura remained on the farm until 1978, when she moved into Lake Lenore. In 1988, she moved to Watson; in 2010, she moved to St. Volodymyr Villa, in Saskatoon; and in 2021, she returned to Watson, to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, where she passed.

Laura faced many hardships in her life, and she relied on her faith, strength, determination and strong work ethic to see her through. She led by example and taught her family the value of honest hard work.

Laura had a great love of music, and enjoyed singing, playing piano and accordion. She also loved knitting, sewing, gardening, and was always eager to share her knowledge and enjoyment of her craft. Laura was always up for a good card game, or a visit with family and friends.

Laura is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her 12 children, 23 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren:
