Kay Cherylene Badduke
October 21, 1946 – January 11, 2024

Kay Cherylene (nee Lyseng) Badduke passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, at her residence in Watson, SK. She was 77 years of age. Kay was born on October 21, 1946, in Creston, BC. She was the third of six children born to Klemmet and Florence (nee Jones) Lyseng. They lived on a farm in the Armena, Alberta district. The family moved to many places but finally settled in Calgary, AB, where Kay got a job right away working for an oil company downtown. On August 24, 1968, she married Ron Badduke. They began their life together in Calgary, where two children were born to them. In 1974, the Badduke family moved to Watson to join in on the family farm. It was there that their third child was born. Kay devoted much of her time cooking many, many meals for the men working in the field. As well, she planted huge vegetable gardens, but the flowers she planted and tended to were her pride and joy. In her leisure time, Kay enjoyed playing cards, bowling, doing needle point and latch hooking, ceramics, watching hockey, and visiting family and friends. In more recent years, music had to be playing everywhere, both inside and outside of the house. After retiring from farming, in 2016 Kay and Ron moved into town. Over the years, Kay was employed in Watson seasonally with Sherritt Gordon Mines (now Agrium) as a distribution clerk, shared a position at the Rural Service Centre, and at Chegus R.V. Sales, all in Watson. After Ron’s passing in 2018, Kay filled her time going for coffee most every day with the “coffee row ladies”. Her spirits were always joyful; she was known for her great sense of humour and her laughter. She enjoyed saying her special word or a finger was given. Kay leaves to cherish her memory, her children and their families: Randine (Mark) Fetter and family, Michaela Fetter (fiancé Curtis), and Montanna (Steven) Perkins; John (Wendy) Badduke and family, Jazlynn (Goodness) Adebogun, Jaydon Badduke (Darby), Jayla Badduke (Carson), and Wynter Badduke; Coralie (Mike) Wysman and family, Tyson Cann, Crush Cann, and Brooke Cann; Mitch (Krista) Dyck and family, Alexander Dyck, Josselin Dyck, and Magnus Dyck; and by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ron Badduke (March 29, 2018); her first great-grandchild, Issac Fetter; father, Klemmet Lyseng; mother, Florence (nee Jones) Lyseng; one brother, Murray Lyseng; one sister, Donna Hays; and two nieces: Tracy Hays, and Kelly Hays. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Al Hingley. Others taking part were: Jazlynn Adebogun and Goodness Adebogun, scripture readers; and Kent Lyseng and Shelley Broadhurst, eulogists. Music ministry was provided by organist Norma Weber and members of the Watson Community Choir. Honorary pallbearers were “All those who shared in Kay’s life”. Active pallbearers were Jaydon Badduke, Tyson Cann, Crush Cann, John Cannon, Tim Lyseng, Trevor Lyseng, and Jeffrey Cannon. Interment followed at the Watson Public Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Watson Public Cemetery Fund (c/o P.O. Box 276, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0).
