Not only are the chills going around outdoors, but colds are starting to go around as well.

This past weekend I took a little trip to the Battlefords and stopped to see a few friends and two thirds of my buddies were feeling under the weather. Coughing, sneezing, cramps, fevers, I've come across all the symptoms over the past 3 days, including Rory (get well buddy).

If I don't get sick with in the next few days, I'm going to give my immune system an A plus. In broadcasting, our job requires us to stay healthy. Don't get me wrong, a sick day is nice every once in awhile, but I enjoy what I do so I don't want to miss a thing! If you are the same, then here is what you can do to stay in top shape during cold season.

Vitamin C: My family loads up on Vitamin C during cold and flu season, and they power through what ever comes their way. Take 2 vitamin C pills a day and you'll be set. Trust me, learned from experience.

Echinacea: Available in pills, teas, liquid extracts, or dried herbs. I have taken Echinacea over the past year. The moment I feel ill and it really helps, fights off tons of germs and bacteria. Pharmacies have bottles of this stuff.

Magnesium: Not only is Magnesium essential to 600 cellular reactions in your body, but it helps you sleep even when your sick.

Mental component: All these drugs are healthy and help you get better. Although, when you get sick, there is a mental component. Think healthy thoughts, think about your white blood cells, and think about how you can fight off what ever it is you have. It's not easy, but it could help.

You don't have to listen to me though, do what ever works for you. If you have better methods, use them. Though, there is no better feeling than those sinuses clearing up and that fever fading away. So, take these into consideration.

Remember, eat healthy, drink fluids, and sleep well. You will be able to fight off anything.
