The Humboldt Broncos Jr. A Hockey Club has made a donation of $275,000 to the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee to go toward the Broncos Tribute Campaign. The cheque presentation came on April 12.

The money from the Broncos hockey club came from donations that arrived in the wake of the 2018 Broncos tragedy. In a release, the Broncos thanked everyone who made donations of any kind for their generosity and support.

The release noted that in the months following the tragedy, the Broncos volunteers, along with MNP and Humboldt’s Conexus Credit Union branch, tracked each of the donations and, in many cases, connected with the donors personally to target the funds. Most of the money received went to individuals, families and organizations as directed by the donors. The remaining balance was directed through the donation to the Tribute Campaign as decided by the current Humboldt Broncos Hockey Club board.

“We are so grateful for the Humboldt Broncos Team and Board for supporting the committee and our mission,” said Rob Muench, Chairman of the Humboldt Broncos Memorials Committee. “This contribution is another step toward our goal of remembering, in a positive way, those lost and those forever changed that day.”

The release also acknowledged the independent existence of other organizations like Humboldt Strong, Humboldt Strong Charitable Foundation and the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament. The work of those organizations is ongoing according to the mandate of each. For its part, the release stated that the Humboldt Broncos Hockey organization itself maintains representation on the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee and supports its mandate for the establishment of permanent memorials at the crash site and in Humboldt.
