Ervin Ambrose Mertz
November 15, 1944 – November 15, 2022

The death of Ervin Ambrose Mertz of Pilger occurred on his 78th birthday at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Ervin was born to Joseph and Rose Mertz on November 15, 1944, and was raised in the Wilmont district, SK. After his schooling, he worked at the Diefenbaker Dam and then moved to Thompson, Manitoba where he worked at the mine. Ervin later returned to Saskatchewan to farm, and then worked in construction.

Ervin enjoyed cooking and making homemade meals for people. Ervin was always wheeling and dealing and liked going to flee markets and garage sales. He loved his antiques and was always on the hunt for his next treasure, and he couldn’t wait to tell someone about his latest find. Ervin was very talkative, and there was never any doubt about what his opinion was. There was never a dull moment when he was around.

Ervin is survived by his friend, Jackelin Weisgerber of Pilger, SK; daughter, Carleen Richardson of Saskatoon, SK; three grandchildren: Mark Richardson of Vancouver, British Columbia, Megan Richardson of Germany, and Matthew Richardson of Assiniboia, SK; brother, Roman Mertz; and sister, Lillian Galalmbos. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose (née Olynuk) Mertz; son, Colin Mertz; sister, Linda Lux; sister-in-law, Sylvia Mertz; brother-in-law, Delmar Galambos; nephew, David Mertz; great-niece, Faith Mertz; and other family members.

A private family service will be held.
