Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt recently received a cheque from Affinity District Council.

The cheque was for the amount of $1250.00 and will be put towards the in-school mentoring at Muenster School.

Jodie Hergott, Development Coordinator with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Humboldt explained what this grant money will do for the organization.

"It will allow us to keep recruiting and bringing awareness to the need of mentors, especially in any size community. Without community initiatives like Affinity, we couldn't keep reaching out to the children who are facing adversity and help them find their voice and reach their full potentials."

Hergott was happy to see mentoring continue despite COVID-19 challenges.

"With COVID restrictions, we have now moved to a virtual program. It allows those kids who are in need of mentorship to still get that one-on-one meeting with a mentor but it is done over a laptop or a tablet."

Anyone is welcome to look into becoming a mentor by calling the office or heading online here.
