Humboldt Collegiate hosted Badminton Provincials yesterday, and some local talent took home some hardware.

The Annaheim duo of Remington Rohel and Ashley Blechinger have won Provincial Bronze in Mixed doubles Badminton.

They talk about the feeling of ending the season on a good note.

Remington said "It's pretty nice. It was lot's of hard work over a lot of seasons so it feels good to get some success out of it."

Ashley said "It was definitely nice to end it with a win that's for sure. Ending it with bronze."

Remington talked about how the team prepared for Provincial weekend.

"We got a lot of really good players at our school so we get a lot of matches in, as well as practices and all through the playoffs. There's a lot of Playoff weekends."

Ashley explains how they made it through the grueling three set match against Regina O'Neill.

"Even in the third set we came out strong at the beginning and right through it we just kept going."

Rohel and Blechinger dropped the first set before roaring back to close out the match.

Mixed doubles isn't the only success story from the Horizon School Division; Foam Lake's Megan Farrell placed 4th in Girls singles.
