Albert Frank Wempe
November 23, 1936 – January 29, 2024

Albert Frank Wempe born November 23, 1936, to Henry and Susan (née Jaeb) Wempe in Humboldt, SK. He attended St. Matthew’s School until Grade 8, then he worked on his dad’s farm. He married his childhood sweetheart, Thelma Niebrugge, on July 14, 1959. Together Albert and Thelma raised their two children and ran a mixed farm operation in the Fulda area. In 1985 they moved into the town of Humboldt, and Albert continued to go out to the farm to help his son. He also worked at the Humboldt Auction Mart and the Humboldt Coop Agro Center. Albert loved music, be it dancing or singing. He especially loved singing and playing his accordion with his brothers and sister and was also involved in the church choir. He loved to play baseball and was a member of the Fulda Flyers baseball team until he was in his mid 30’s. Albert then played Twilight Ball and umpired for numerous years. In the winter months he curled, until his health prevented him from playing. When he wasn’t playing sports, he was watching sports, the Blue Jays and Roughriders were his teams of choice to watch on TV. He was a big Humboldt Bronco’s fan, but his favorite live sport activities were watching his grand and great-grandchildren in their recreational sports. And they loved it when he would come watch them play. Albert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by: his wife of 64 years, Thelma (née Niebrugge) Wempe; son, Brian (Kendra) Wempe and family: Shawn (Lea)Wempe, and child Elliot; Carissa (Ryley) Doepker, and child Nola; daughter, Wanda (Ron) Sand and family: Devin (Melissa) Sand, and children, Zaine, Alexandra and Ryker; Ryan (Kelsey) Sand, and children Ava and Aidan; brothers: Harold (Lois) Wempe, Al (Elaine) Wempe, Murray (Connie) Wempe; sister Alma Hoppe; brothers-in-law: Reynald Niebrugge and Mel (Donna) Niebrugge; sisters-in-law: Lynn Wempe and Lucille Niebrugge.
