The 2019 senior girls provincial volleyball championships wrapped up on Saturday.

Three HCAA teams came away in the top three of their respective divisions. All eight of the local teams that qualified actually ended up making playoffs, but as many athletes, coaches, and fans know, someone has to lose.

In the 1A division, the playoffs featured three local teams. Muenster battled their way to the bronze medal game against Medstead but settled for fourth after losing in two sets. In the Final LeRoy and Rose Valley did battle for gold. After 3 sets of play Rose Valley would go home with gold, while LeRoy would take silver.

It was a tough go at provincials for a couple of local teams in the 2A division as Foam Lake fell to Macklin in the first round of the playoffs. Then Wakaw managed to make it to the bronze medal game and lose to Pierceland in 2 sets.

In 3A, Punnichy would place 4th in the playoffs but lose in the first round to Kipling. Lanigan on the other hand actually made their way to the final. However, yet another local team would have to settle for silver as Lanigan would fall in 3 sets to Oxbow.

Finally, in the 4A division, HCI qualified for playoffs with a 1-3 record through the round-robin. They would lose out of the tournament through a hard-fought 3 sets against MJ Vanier in the first round of the playoffs.

Congratulations to Rose Valley on 1A gold, LeRoy on 1A Silver, and Lanigan on 3A Silver.
