Wilfred Joseph Berchiminsky
August 22, 1953 – February 9, 2024

Wilfred was born on August 22nd, 1953, to Nick and Marcella Berchiminsky in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He was the eldest of six children and grew up on the family farm and attended St James School in Humboldt. The family moved to Watson in 1965 where he completed his education in Watson. He then pursued a post secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan and completed his Diploma in Agriculture. As a young man, in the winter months, he was employed as a welder in Saskatoon and honed his skills. This proved invaluable in helping his father Nick over the years with farming. Wilfred resided near the home quarter for most of his life actively farming. He also spent many years as a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Lakeside. Due to health issues, Wilfred decided to retire from farming and rent his land. Over the next few years his health issues progressed. In November 2023 he was admitted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. His condition deteriorated further and at the end of January 2024 he was transferred to the Palliative Care unit at St Paul’s Hospital. The family said their goodbyes during that time, and he passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2024. Throughout his life, Wilfred had a love for farming, fishing, and playing cards. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends and neighbours and will be lovingly remembered and missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Wilfred will be remembered by: his sister DELPHINE (Stanley) Gardiner and family: Melissa (Bryan) Thome and their sons Marcus and Mason; Michael (Alana) Gardiner and their sons, Austin and Owen; Matthew (Danielle) Gardiner and their children, Samantha, Andrew, and Jordyn; his sister ANNETTE Binsfeld (Joseph Regnitter) and family: Justin (Megan) Binsfeld and their daughter Sloane; Tyson Binsfeld (Dragana); and Teigan (Brandon) Janzen and their children, Kendall, Kinley and Jacob; his brother LEON Berchiminsky; his sister THERESA Berchiminsky, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by: his brother Vernon (1982); his parents Nick (2008) and Marcella (2019); and his brother in law Ernst Binsfeld (2017). The family wishes to thank the Humboldt District Hospital, the Royal University Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital for his care.
