Early spring dry conditions led to a brush fire burning out of control 18km west of Wakaw near Highway 312. Responders received the call on April 15th at 6:27 pm.

Firefighters from both the Wakaw and Cudworth halls responded with three Wildland trucks, one tanker and one command unit. On scene firefighters arrived to a fire that was burning out of control in heavy brush. High wind speeds created multiple spot fires in different areas and hampered firefighters' ability to control the fire.

Luckily with the help of Mother Nature and timely precipitation fire crews were able to get the fire under control within 4 hours. No damage to property was reported.
