It's that time of year where we look back at 2018 for local Humboldt businesses and organizations to highlight what was accomplished as well as what's to come in 2019.

The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation was happy to see a successful plan pan out to benefit the needs of the hospital in 2018.

"2018 was a very good year, we were able to purchase almost all of the items on the equipment list," said Lorrie Bunko, Executive Director of HDHF.

Their annual four events contributed to those equipment needs being met.

"Our radiothon was once again a huge success. We made some changes to our golf tournament and turned it into a lottery this year, just to try and reduce the risks associated with hosting a golf tournament. This year turned out to be the perfect time to do that because we would have had to cancel due to the weather. We partnered with St. Mary's Villa Foundation and had a very successful lottery. We also hosted our annual Christmas Angels Appeal and we hosted our donor recognition this year, which happens every two years. It was a wonderful event, just an opportunity for us to be able to thank all of our donors and volunteers for all the support they give us throughout the year."

In 2019 HDHF would like to cross another piece of equipment off the list that was not secured in 2018.

"We are going to really bare down and focus on raising funds for Pyxis, which is an automatic drug distribution system. We have given ourselves a one-year goal to achieve raising the $270,000 for that new system. It's new technology, it's new equipment and it would be very beneficial for our hospital to have Pyxis here."

The first event coming up for HDHF will be the Equip to Care Radiothon in April.
