It's that time of year where we look back at 2018 for local Humboldt businesses and organizations to highlight what was accomplished as well as what's to come in 2019.

"Our whole year was very busy, January kicked off with a pasta buffet supper at Boston Pizza with a chance to win Rush tickets and a hotel stay. Then we rolled right into Bowl for Kid's Sake in February. We just had a blast with the Flintstones, it was a really fun time," said Jodie Hergott, Community Development Coordinator of BBBS.

BBBS held their Diva for a Day Golf Tournament in June of 2018. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't as cooperating. That didn't stop the good times from being had.

"Even though Mother Nature wouldn't let us out on the golf course, all the ladies had a very good time. Diva for a Day was a great success and we've booked the golf course again for 2019, it will take place on June 1st."

September was a big month for BBBS as it's National Big Brothers Big Sisters Month in Canada.

"It was a very busy month for us. We launched our first annual Burger Challenge with three local restaurants in Humboldt, it proved to be a great success.  We're looking forward to providing the event to the city next September. We also lit the town Purple in September. It was very heartwarming to know that Humboldt appreciates the value of mentoring."

To wrap up the month of September BBBS announced their WestJet draw winner and presented a handful of awards to volunteers.

Hergott says she had a few ideas in her back pocket that are still in the planning stages for 2019, so expect some returning events with possibly some added fun more planned for BBBS of Humboldt and Area in 2019.
