Among the most rewarding things you can do, being a volunteer ranks at or near the top.

Wynyard's Tod Bolt knows that feeling.

Bolt is the President of the Wynyard Minor Hockey Association, and on Saturday night he was recognized by the Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture and Recreation (PCDSCR) with their Volunteer Recognition Award.

A not for profit organization, the PCDSCR provides support to communities in central Saskatchewan to promote quality of life through sport, culture and recreation.

The volunteer recognition program was implemented to shine the spotlight on long-standing community volunteers as a way to demonstrate the importance and value that they have on our communities.

Not only does Bolt serve as President of Wynyard Minor Hockey, he is also a member of the Kinsmen Club, in addition to assisting the Overtime Campaign, which is a committee seeking to build a new arena within the town.

He also helps coach hockey where he is busy with three boys.

The award also provides a grant in the form of $1,000 which the PCDSCR mandates be used on a program related to the honoured volunteer's efforts.

Bolt elected to have the money go back to minor hockey, where it will offset costs of their conditioning camp in October.

He was honoured with the award prior to Saturday's Bantam hockey game between Wynyard and Wadena.
