With harvest close to completion and Halloween on Monday, the town of Wynyard held their first ever Harvest Festival on the weekend.

Kids activities, a haunted house, a fun run, and pumpkin decorating highlighted the weekend festivities.

Sigourney Hoytfox is the Director of Community Services for Wynyard.

She describes what made the first ever Harvest Festival important.

"This was our first year, so we're sort of learning. It's a bit of a learning experience for us, so we're taking a lot of feedback from people for what we do next year. It's great, it doesn't cost anything except for a donation to the food bank, so we're hgoping to help feed members of our community at the same time as we enjoy the end of harvest and the Halloween festivities."

Hoytfox explains how the idea came about.

"There was a group of us, and we thought it would be a great idea to celebrate the end of harvest, kind of in conjunction of Halloween."

Hoytfox says there's already a plan in place for next year.

"Look for us next year becayuse we'll probably do the harvest festival and the forest run again. We're always looking for volunteers, especially to be the creepy creatures in the trees, so keep your eyes peeled for next year."
