Humboldt's historical beginnings will see more contributions over the next year.

After receiving $15,000 from the federal government's Canada 150 fund, the Original Humboldt project is getting an additional $2,000 thanks to a local business.

Information Services Corporation presented the Original Humboldt committee with the funds on Thursday morning.

Original Humboldt is located eight kilometres west on Highway 5 and three kilometres south on Telegraph Road, and is a depiction of how Humboldt was discovered.

Work to be undertaken in the new year to ready the site for Canada's 150th birthday includes installing more storyboards about the land, working on returning the land to native grasses, and providing education and public programs.
