Construction is well underway on the City of Humboldt's new water distribution plant.

Work on the new facility began on April 4, and will continue until its expected completion in early 2017.

Upgrades to the plant will include replacement of piping and electronics within the facility, as well as an additional reservoir for increased water capacity.

The city says that once complete, the plant will be able to accommodate up to 9,000 people, while also avoiding the dreaded Precautionary Drinking Water Advisories that Humboldt has seen.

On Thursday, the city released a time-lapse video, detailing the work done thus far:
