Safe Communities Humboldt and Area is back with two winter preparedness clinics this year.

Executive Director Shari Hinz talks about what will be covered.

"How to heat your safely and properly, both the Humboldt Fire Department and LeRoy Fire Department personnel will be addressing that topic. We include information on suitable winter dress and frost bite or other winter conditions that they might experience, the Humboldt and District Ambulance Service as well as the Lanigan and District Ambulance Association will be providing information on that topic. SGI will be discussing roadway and pedestrian safety and PARTNERS Family Services will also be provided some general child safety information."

This Friday the clinic begins at 4:30 at the Humboldt Regional Newcomers Centre.

Hinz talks about why they hold these every year.

"It's just a really great opportunity for people that are new to our area that have not experienced a Saskatchewan winter previously. Just to give them some really good tips, general information on what to expect, how to prepare and just sort of the tools and things they need to think about when they are encountering a winter."

Next Friday they will be at the LeRoy School for the same reason. Hinz explains why they wanted to branch out of the City of Humboldt this year.

"We wanted to vary the location, there's not only newcomers in Humboldt but in the region as well so just to give those residents the opportunity in those areas to attend and not necessarily have to travel into Humboldt all the time."
