Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for the Humboldt area due to smoke drifting north from the United States.

Residents in the southwestern part of the province began to see hazy conditions earlier in the week, and with the Washington state fires continuing, that haze has continued to push north.

All of Central and Southern Saskatchewan is now included in the statement.

As of it's 9:35am release on Saturday, the air quality rating was a 4 which carries moderate risk.

Individuals are advised to be aware of potential health concerns which may also lead to irritation of the eyes, throat, and shortness of breath.

Conditions are expected to improve over the next 24-36 hours.
