The Wheatland Express is chugging along the tracks with their Magical Christmas Express tour.

The tour goes from Wakaw, SK to Cudworth, Sk and back, and includes all sorts of Christmas fun for the family. It ran throughout the weekend on December 8th and 9th and will fire up the engines once again on December 15th and 16th.

"On the train, we have lots of entertainment. We have three elves that sing Christmas carols and tell stories, Mrs. Claus also hands out treats, hot chocolate, and cookies," said Patty Harrison with The Wheatlnd Express Excursion Train.

No Christmas tour would be complete without Santa Claus and Harrison was assuring he wouldn't miss the ride.

"We pick Santa up along the way, we stop the train and he gets on. Everybody is amazed that Santa is on the side of the tracks waiting for a ride. Then he heads to his special car on the train and people can take turns to sit on Santa's lap and take pictures."

This is the first year that the Magical Christmas Express had been running and around 600 people checked on to the train for its first weekend.

The second weekend of excursions has already been sold out.
