The Wheatland Express in Central Saskatchewan is a Premier Excursion and Event Passenger Train located in Cudworth SK.

The tourist attraction recently added a new car to its fleet.

Ashlyn Weninger, Director of Marketing and operations, with Wheatland Express gives the details on what the new car is.

"This specific car is a 'buddliner' which is quite a significant style of car that was built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia in the US between 1949 and 1962."

The Wheatland Express has five cars in its fleet. "This is the third buddliner to the fleet."

The Wheatland Express is also looking to add a sleeper car in the near future.

When asked what the special draw is for the Wheatland Express this is what Weniger had to share.

"We show them the magic of the railway and what it was like to travel by train, all the history, and heritage behind it."

With COVID there is a plan in place to open in June with a light season; however, that could change given the current pandemic situation.

Overall, the future looks great for the tourist attraction with the addition of in-car dining and overnight stays, and the new addition will allow for accessibility issues with a built-in wheelchair lift.
