May long weekend is typically known as the kickoff to summer for most people, with campgrounds opening up.

But, will the weather remain ideal for those looking to grow crops, gardens and enjoy the outdoors?

Environment Canada Meteorologist John Paul Cragg says things are looking fairly good.

"As you look further in time, obviously the models aren't as clear, but right now, models are showing a pretty consistent pattern over the next couple of weeks, where temperatures will be close to average for this time of year."

The Humboldt area could see some rainfall during the overnight period on Wednesday and throughout Thursday, but it is not expected to be significant.

Cragg adds that in Saskatchewan, it is always difficult to predict where the rain falls and how much.

"Very localized showers that often happen in Saskatchewan, where one field could get 15 millimetres of rain, and the field next to them could see nothing," he noted. "It's typical that we see that throughout the summer in Saskatchewan, but we are seeing that in the spring."

Typical days in late May for the region bring daytime highs of 19, with the temperature going down to six overnight.
