It's not what farmers want to hear as harvest progress continues... rain and wind.

That's the expected reality for a wet, windy weekend in the Humboldt area and across the bulk of Saskatchewan.

Emergency Preparedness Meteorologist for Environment Canada, John Paul Cragg, says that it's a rain system that will last the entire weekend.

"We're looking at rainfall beginning Friday morning and continuing all the way until Sunday afternoon," he explained. "Rainfall amounts over the three-day period will get up between 50 and 80 millimetres."

During the latter half of the system, there will be gustier conditions in the area, according to Cragg.

"The wind will be picking up and there is a possibility that Saturday afternoon through until Sunday, there could be wind gusts from 40 to 60 kilometres an hour."

In addition to the wet and often windy conditions, daily temperatures are expected to be close to the 10-degree mark, meaning a likely wind chill at times.

Cragg added that although warmer temperatures are on the way after the system passes through, it could be first of two cells to bring plenty of precipitation to the area.

"We are looking at sunnier conditions moving into the beginning of next week with warmer temperatures close to the 20 mark, but after Wednesday, it looks like there is potential for another system moving in to the province."
