Western Financial Group donated $5,000 toward building a daycare in LeRoy last week.

“LeRoy is in very bad need of a daycare facility just because we don't have one and so we were very excited to be able to give them this money to help build this daycare,” branch manager Derra Froess said.

The money was raised through the company’s Support the Cause Walk last spring. The LeRoy branch was one of the top 10 fundraisers of the Western offices, Froess said.

The LeRoy daycare board plans to build a daycare in the existing seniors home in town, chairperson Kimberley Block said.

LeRoy doesn’t have a licensed daycare, and child care in the town is needed to keep it going and keep young families moving back, she said.

“We need this money because we have a lot of renovations that we have to do to the building to make it two separate entities.

“Right now, once we hear back from the building inspector we can start fundraising and putting all the funds that we’re raising towards the renovation costs of the building.”
