With the August long weekend here, the Government of Saskatchewan is reminding people that this is the time of year where the risk of Contracting a West Nile Virus is greatest.

This year there have been two confirmed cases of West Nile Virus in Saskatchewan, which doesn't always mean an infection.

Health Officials in the Province recommend these tips.

  • Remove items that can collect water from your yard.
  • Limit the time you spend outside overnight.
  • Use bug spray.
  • Make sure bug screens on doors and windows work properly.
  • Keep any shrubs, bushes and lawns clear of debris and overgrowth.
