In past years the Coed Slowpitch tournament has never had more than 8 teams involved, but this year there were 12 competing to take home the cash prize.

In pool A and Pool B, the teams in first and second received a fair amount of cash to take home. Where pool C and pool D had only the first place teams take home a prize. The tournament stretched out over 3 days, starting on the 10th of August, and ending on the 12th. Each team took part in at least 4 games.

Lyle Painter, with the Watson Rec Board committee, said the weather wasn't too much of a problem.

"Friday was really hot and sweaty, Saturday started out that way too, by the time we played last night people was in hoodies and jeans, now, here today it's so windy it's pretty hard to play ball."

This year has also been the third year where night games were featured in the tournament. Slowpitch was not the only activity to take part in this weekend though. People were able to enjoy the sheltered beer gardens, as well as a barbeque.

All the funds are going to the shelter for the beer garden to keep it up and running for many years to come.
