Students from around the Horizon school division were in Watson on Friday for a Rescu 9-11 safety day at the school.

Students were gathered to learn about the work that goes into emergency situations.

The day got started with a mock car crash put on by Quill Lake Fire and EMS and Watson Fire and EMS followed by fire extinguisher demonstrations.

RCMP had their rollover machine on hand and Agrium brought an education trailer.

Inga Maclaine an EA at the school said the day wouldn't have been possible without the help of volunteers and sponsors.

"BHP has come out and provided our students, and volunteers, and residents in Watson with a free lunch and we have Safe Communities out to do a car seat clinic for the residents of Watson."

The afternoon events included firefighter competitions.

Over 400 students were in attendance for the day.
