The Parrish & Heimbecker facility south of Watrous is getting some new upgrades.

Along Highway 2 south of Watrous, construction is taking place at the Parrish & Heimbecker facility. Upgrades are already underway as construction will be taking place for the next six months.

The expansion includes a new 6,000-tonne fertilizer warehouse, 20,000 tonnes of extra grain storage, a tripling of the speed of grain loading, the railway siding will be adjusted to create a 150-car spot, and high-speed grain cleaners. The upgrades were made to expand the point of origin system so the company can keep up with commercial demand on the export side of the facility.

"Most of these upgrades are an efficiency game, so from both from a workers and customers perspective, they should see things done quicker when delivering grain or picking up fertilizer," said Lloyd Heimbecker, Western Regional the company.

There is no exact date the facility upgrades will be complete.
