The Watrous Rotary Club is bring Oktoberfest back to Watrous.

The Watrous Curling Club will be holding the event on October 1st.

Al Mosewich is the past president of the Watrous Rotary Club.

He talks about where the funds will be going to.

"The Watrous Rotary Club just passed a motion at their last meeting that all money raised during Oktoberfest 2016 will be donated to the Watrous Curling Club, to help fund the cost of a new chiller."

Although the funds were originally supposed to be split by the Curling Club and Rotary Club, the Rotary club decided the need for a chiller was more dire than the walking trail they are currently working on.

Mosewich explains why there is a need for a new chiller for the Curling rink.

"The existing chiller was moved from the old Curling rink at the time the new Curling rink was constructed. It served us very well, for over 50 years. However it's done, and the cost estimates that have come in for replacements today is over $30,000."

Mosewich says this isn't the first Oktoberfest Watrous has seen, but the first one in a long time.

"Watrous has not held an Oktoberfest celebration for 33 years. The Watrous Kinsmen hosted many great ones back in the day, and the Curling Club has been looking for a new way to kick off their season. It's just time to bring Oktoberfest back to Watrous, and the Curling rink will need the money for the chiller too."

Little German Band from Humboldt will be performing at Oktoberfest.

Tickets are available in advance for $30, which will include supper, DJ, performance from the Little German Band, and a souvenir mug.
