A fundraiser is underway for Watrous EMS to purchase a new piece of equipment.

The Zoll Autopulse is a mechanical CPR machine, paramedic Kassandra Janzen explains how the machine is essentially an extra worker.

"What this machine will do is it will do the compression's for us on the patient that needs CPR, and then one attendant can drive the ambulance, and the other attendant can be doing ventilation's or other critical stuff the patient needs, instead of having to do compression's."

Co-paramedic Adam Prokopchuk explains how much money they need to buy the machine.

"We have 11,000 dollars right now. We started fundraising about three months ago, and we currently need about 4,000 more to get the 16,000 dollar piece of equipment."

Prokopchuk goes on to explain their 50/50 draw.

"The draw is on August 14th. We are selling tickets, one ticket for two dollars, three tickets for five dollars, and seven tickets for ten dollars."

Tickets for the draw are available for purchase at the EMS office in the Watrous and District Health Complex, they will also be selling them at the Watrous fun run taking place on July 29th.
