The Watrous Fun Run has been a community staple since 1992, the community will hold the event again this Saturday, their 25th edition.

With what started as a car show has revved into a full day of events including kids activities.

Longtime organizer Jason Lindgren explains why they put the show on each year.

"To bring people to Watrous and to show them what our community has got and just to bring new people here to start a car show and it's spun off from that. In the beginning we had the Coachman Car Club, they kind of helped us spearhead it out here and after a few years they went their own way and did their own thing and then locally the community has taken it over."

They already have over 100 cars registered including one from as far as Ontario, Lindgren expects to have over 200 this year. Those are great numbers but he does say they have expanded from simply a show and shine.

"We have a pancake breakfast early in the morning starting at 8 o'clock, throughout the day it's the show and shine, we've got the 'Boss Blue' pulling tractor coming, the 'Prairie Gold' bio-diesel jet car and just lots of family activities."

At 3:30 they will have a parade and cruise up to Manitou Beach. The day will close with something that is also unique to the car show in Watrous, an awards banquet that starts at 6:30.

Lindgren concludes that the event is a big one for their town.

"The campground and overflow is completely booked, most of the motels and hotels have one or two rooms possibly but a couple of them are already booked full and they have been for a while. Being the car show weekend people always tend to book their family reunions, events on the weekend because they've also got something else to do that weekend."
