The City of Humboldt has completed some watermain work along 5th Avenue but there is still some concerns when it comes to some residents water service.

Director of Planning and Engineering Peter Berquist explains that they are attempting to get good water quality samples for testing.

Normally when work such as this occurs hydrant flushing is part of the maintenance but due to pulling water from older mains from the south sediment in the pipes is stirring up causing issues getting a good clean water sample. That has created longer than normal flushing of the lines.

A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory has been issued for the north of 5th Avenue on 5th Street.

If the city can draw good samples of water they need about three days to have the water tested by the Saskatchewan Research Council in Saskatoon, following that the PDWA would be lifted.

A water valve leak has been found at the intersection of Third Avenue and Main Street.

Residents and businesses on the 200 and 300 block of Main Street will be affected and will receive notification directly from the City of Humboldt.

Affected citizens are encouraged to store potable water as water service will be turned off for repair on today(Tue).

Further information will be posted as updates become available or follow updates available on the City's Facebook or Twitter channels.
