Water will cost a little more money in 2019.

Last night, the Humboldt City Council decided to vote in favour of raising the water consumption rates by 7% for 2019.

With SaskWater raising their rates, it forces the city of Humboldt to go from $4.71 per cubic meter to $5.03 per cubic meter for water. Other expenses on the rise for 2019 are water flats, sewer consumption, and sewer flats up 3%. Storm levy went up 2.4%, while the garbage levy remains steady.

The amount of water one uses each month, will decide the size of the bill.

"The typical household that holds a couple would see an average $130.89 bill per month, whereas in 2018 it would've been about $125 per month," said city manager, Joe Day.

The money brought in from the utility bills goes back into Humboldt's water system repairs and projects.
