Hergott Farm Equipment, Humboldt Co-op and Bolt FM teamed up to say thanks to area producers on Tuesday with a Farmer Appreciation Night.

Over 150 people attended the evening, which featured a meal, entertainment and prizes.

Leisl Lefebvre helped put things together for the night, and she says that it is important that farmers hear their appreciation.

"I don't think that farmers are realistically appreciated enough," she said. "People growing up in this area, it's just something that people do. It's just their job, but there is no real 'just' about it. It's a very major component of the economic heartbeat of this area."

Lefebvre added that there is many layers to what farmers contribute.

"We need to let them know that we really do appreciate what they do, what they put into our workforce, what they put into our economy, because it's a really hard job."

Before the night got underway and following the meal, Humboldt band 40oz. Philosophy played a pair of sets for those in attendance.

Michael Zentner, a farmer from LeRoy, says that it was an enjoyable evening.

"It was really good. I know the farmers out here really appreciate the businesses taking time to express their gratitude for supporting them."

Zentner says that they would look forward to attending more of these events in the future.

"The band was good, the meal was terrific. The best part was all the prizes," he noted. "We're hoping we can have another one next year."

Every farmer in attendance was the recipient of a prize, which ranged from a diamond necklace, to tickets to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as well as appliances and gift certificates.
