For the second day in a row the Humboldt Fire Department was called into action.

Monday morning they assisted the Lake Lenore department with a house fire, Tuesday they responded to a grass and bush fire at a yard south of Carmel.

The call came from a neighbour of the vacant yard over the lunch hour.

When crews arrived smoke was billowing across the grid road but thankfully there was no damage to buildings.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, both Fire Chief Mike Kwasnica and the landowner who arrived at the scene about ten kilometres south of Highway 5 said trespassers could be responsible, Kwasnica stated it could have been ignited by a discarded cigarette.

Crews were working on moving dirt and dousing hot spots about 45 minutes after they arrived.
