Humboldt Minor Hockey invaded the Elgar Petersen Arena and the Uniplex for a day of hockey, fun, and food.

On Saturday, Humboldt Minor Hockey Day took place with teams from junior novice taking to the ice as early as 6:45, the same youngsters were the first intermission entertainment during Saturday night's Broncos game during the Battlefords Stars.

The senior novice players were involved, as what atom, peewee and bantams.

"We had every division organized," HMH Secretary/Treasurer Kerry Hoppe said during the afternoon. "We had everyone on the ice at one point, everyone in a dry land session and also a pizza party in Jubilee Hall."

The HMH board also used over $6,000 in sponsorship to purchase collector shirts for the kids as well as 250 tickets for Saturday's Bronco game versus the Stars.

Hoppe said it was just a way to show appreciation for the parents, coaches and volunteers.

"It's a way for the minor hockey board to give back. The association recognizes all the hard work that goes into running these games every weekend and through out the year."

You can hear more from Hoppe below who chatted with Bolt FM's Ryan McNally.
