Residents in Humboldt and area and across a large portion of Saskatchewan woke up Wednesday morning to check the damage from strong wind gusts overnight.

Reports of downed power lines, blown over fences, shingles, and roofs came in during the early morning hours.

Shortly after midnight, the Humboldt Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment complex on 7th Street, where the roof had blown off due to the wind.

As a result, there has been heavy damage to the building, as well as vehicles parked behind in the parking lot, including two that were buried underneath the roof.

A power line came down due to contact with the roof, in addition to fragments being blown all over the back alley.

Atleast three businesses in Humboldt have also seen damage to their roofs.

SaskPower has also received multiple reports of outages due to contact with lines from debris, or brief shortages of power.

In Humboldt, the wind topped out at 94 kilometres per hour.

Strong gusts are still expected throughout Wednesday, with the wind calming towards the evening.
