People of Wakaw enjoyed burgers and hot dogs at the Grand Opening of the new water park at the lions park in town.

The Park has already been open for a couple of weeks now but last night was the Grand Opening to kickoff that the park was in full capacity. 12 features are available on the water park says Wakaw Mayor, Steven Skoworodko.

"It has everything from dump buckets to spray cannons to ground sprays, and for the last couple of weeks that it's been open, it's been highly utilized."

Wakaw Lions club has been working to make this park possible in the town of 1000 people. The Lions committed to doing all the fundraising for the capital investment which was almost $200,000. The town of Wakaw will handle the maintenance of the park from now on. Skoworodko said the reason the park was built was to add another feature to the park.

"It's on our main business street in town, so it's another attraction for tourists. Again Wakaw being another a high tourist population for the summer with the lake being right here, it just adds another feature to the community which definitely brightens our community welcome place for people who are visiting."
